Biophilia, not a new concept, has been gaining a lot of traction among proponents of sustainable design. The premise behind the biophilic design is to incorporate aspects of nature into products and built environments to enhance our health, well-being, and productivity.
What is Biophilia and Biophilic Design?
Biophilia suggests that there is a natural bond between human beings and other living systems. Biophilic Design takes that bond and aims to bring it into spaces where there is a separation between humans and nature. How can you bring that alliance into your office space? We all at some point have worked in a barren office space with no windows, filled with fluorescent light and no living plants in sight. In this article, we want to bring you some ideas that could help you in creating an office space that will help you connect with nature and enjoy your work experience
Let’s take a look at 3 ideas that you can implement:
1. ADD A LIVING WALL
Sometimes bringing natural light through regular windows might not be possible but a skylight might help you bring the illusion of nature into your space. There is a company called Skyfactory that provides affordable ceiling and wall installations.
Choose soft furnishings, like the one shown above by Kimball Office, with patterns inspired by nature. Incorporate more diverse colours and textures and tone when selecting carpets, rugs, wallpaper and wall paint. Interface flooring is one company that is currently offering some terrific options to help you create a nature-inspired space.
Living plants are always a great way to bring nature inside your office. Not only do they provide a natural element to the environment and enhance the aesthetic value of the office, interior plants can also provide sound absorption, have air filtering qualities, absorb toxins in the atmosphere and can improve humidity. One company you need to check out is DIRTT Walls. They provide beautiful living wall solutions.
2. BUILD A SKYVIEW
3. UPDATE YOUR FURNITURE AND INTERIOR MATERIAL ELEMENTS

A teaming area is a smaller space that can be assigned for the duration of a project, or unassigned for spontaneous meetings. Look for furniture such as Smart Boards and Focus Walls, which allow for ideas to be discussed, evaluated, rearranged and documented. Flip-top tables allow for easy and countless reconfigurations for demonstration, learning, meeting and negotiations. Allow for recessed monitors and controls for live teleconferencing and presentations that connect team members in different location. → INFO
Our faithful companion at the office, aside from the desk, is the task chair. That sturdy piece of furniture that waits for us every day. They come in all sizes, colors, and in an array of materials and features. A HIGH-TECH PARTNERSHIP
Connectivity has become a key communication component in the workplace. When we moved to our new location, we knew that connecting rooms and staff was imperative for a successful and seamless collaboration environment. So, the process of finding the right company to assist us in achieving our goals started. Needless to say, a daunting task. Luckily for us we found Corona Integrated Systems. They listened, they asked the right questions, and most importantly they were able to adjust to all the different challenges we threw at them.

+ AV System: Kramer VIA Connect PRO wireless presentation and collaboration system for each of the seven conference rooms.
+ DIRTT Solutions: designed and manufactured the entire wall environments, with power and other cabling inside, as well as provisions for the built-in AV systems.
The End Results:
A super high-tech environment with displays supported by custom mounts inside a glass wall. The glass is painted from within the wall with an automotive-grade paint that makes it look like the image is part of the wall. Plus, the glass surface allows meeting participants to write on it, giving collaboration an additional dimension.

COLLABORATIVE OFFICES are working environments that allows people to work in multiple ways. Collaborative spaces are not built simply by putting people next to one another – but are instead an intentional space with the tools necessary for collaborative activities.
The most common types of collaborative spaces include large monitors to display information, video conferencing technology, wall-sized whiteboards, shelves and tables where materials can be displayed and casual lounge seating.
